The Village of Kaslo Mayor and Council are pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Baker as its Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Robert, who currently serves as the Deputy Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture at the City of Trail will begin his new position with the Village of Kaslo on March 18, 2024.
Throughout his career, Mr Baker has led a wide variety of municipal services including parks, recreation & culture, community events and airport management providing him with a strong working knowledge of local government administration.
“It is vital that we select the right candidate to fill this important position within the Village, and after an extensive search, we are confident that Robert has the skills and background necessary to be successful in this role” states Mayor Suzan Hewat. “His strong leadership skills, abilities, and demonstrated commitment to local government administration will make him an invaluable addition to our team. Council is looking forward to working with Robert and we think he will be a great addition to the community”.
The CAO, reporting directly to council is a leader who oversees the business affairs of the municipality and its employees in accordance with legislation, corporate policies, and council’s strategic plan. The CAO ensures that Council approved municipal services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
Robert is excited to be joining the Village of Kaslo team and to support a culture of transparency, inclusiveness, accountability, and innovation. “I am delighted and honoured for the opportunity to work closely with Mayor Hewat, and to advance Council’s priorities and initiatives for the community” says Mr. Baker. “As CAO, I look forward to supporting Kaslo’s dedicated staff and to building on existing relationships with community partners, who are key to the Village’s success”.
